Zelda: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Armor Locations

Today, a free update for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released, and it includes a new side quest themed after the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The reward is the armor worn by the game’s main character, Rex, and we’ll show you exactly where to go, what to do, and how to find it.

Be warned: here, there be spoilers.

When you load up your game, you should almost immediately see an alert for a new quest called, simply, [Xenoblade Chronicles 2] (if you don’t see it in your list of side quests, you’ll need to make sure your software was updated). The quest itself is a riddle, which reads, “The southern sky from the middle of the largest bridge. The eastern sky from the skull’s left eye. The southeastern sky from the peak of the tall, pierced snowy mountain.” Your task is to go to each of these three locations, look up into the night sky in the correct direction, and then collect the treasure from the star that subsequently falls from the sky.

Sound easy enough? Well, if you’re stumped, we’ve got all of the locations listed below. Before you begin make sure it’s night, or that you at least have some wood and flint on hand!

1. “The southern sky from the middle of the largest bridge.”

For the first article of the Salvager gear, we need to head to the Bridge of Hylia in the Faron region. The fastest way to get there is to travel to the Lake Tower and then use your paraglider to glide down onto the bridge. Head to the courtyard in the center, and then look up into the sky, making sure to aim to the south.

You’ll know you’ve done everything right when you hear a high-pitched chime followed the whistle of what sounds like fireworks and the sight of a red star falling to the ground. Head towards the bright, welcoming glow of the impact and claim your reward: the Salvager Headwear!

2. “The eastern sky from the skull’s left eye.”

For the second article of the Salvager gear, we need to head to the Skull Lake in the Akkala region. The fastest way to get there is to travel to the Zuna Kai Sprine, which gets your right where you need to be. When you arrive, look up into the sky, making sure to aim to the east.

You’ll know you’ve done everything right when you hear a high-pitched chime followed the whistle of what sounds like fireworks and the sight of a red star falling to the ground. Head towards the bright, welcoming glow of the impact and claim your reward: the Salvager Vest!

3. The southeastern sky from the peak of the tall, pierced snowy mountain.

For the third and final article of the Salvager gear, we need to head to the Hebra Peak in the (you guessed it) Hebra region. The fastest way to get there is to travel to the Goma Asaagh Shrine, leave the frozen cave, and then walk up to the very top of the mountain. When you get there, look up into the sky, making sure to aim to the south.

You’ll know you’ve done everything right when you hear a high-pitched chime followed the whistle of what sounds like fireworks and the sight of a red star falling to the ground. Head towards the bright, welcoming glow of the impact and claim your reward: the Salvager Trousers!

And that’s it! Congratulations! You’re officially an owner of the fabulous new Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Salvager armor (though I still prefer their original name: PG Ass-less Chaps).

It’s not really anything to write home about, but it’s a little, tiny something to keep us occupied while we wait for Xenoblade Chronicles 2; or, you know, spam google for news about Breath of the Wild’s DLC Pack 2.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 releases on December 1 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Breath of the Wild’s free Xenoblades Chronicles 2 DLC is available today.
